“I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” (Psalms 119.11) For mom, these words did not merely mean to memorize Bible verses. It meant to apply God’s word to her life as her guiding principles. To by faith claim the promises of God as her hope of glory. In that way, the word becomes “living flesh” so others would see, “Christ in me, the hope of glory.”

It is our prayer tonight that as we hear stories and remember how mom lived her life, we will see Jesus and glorify our Father in heaven. Here are some of those precious thoughts from God’s Word.

Hear the word of the Lord.

“He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion.” (Phil 1.6)

“Let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel.” (Phil 1.27)

“I press towards the goal of the prize of the upward calling.” (Phil 3.14)

“Complete my joy being of the same mind… count others more significant than yourself… have this mind in you which was in Christ Jesus.” (Phil 2.2-4)

“My God will supply every need.” (Phil 4.19)

“Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.” (Isaiah 41.10)

“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8.28)

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.” (2 Timothy 4.7-9)

“Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!” (Matthew 25.23)

The word of the Lord.
